Specializing in political thrillers, James W Huston was born in Indiana, and studied at the University of South Carolina on an ROTC scholarship, and spent his senior year of study in England.
A former US Navy flight officer who attended the elite TOPGUN flight school, he was among those aboard the US Nimitz who participated in the filming of the movie The Final Countdown, including a number of flight scenes.
